MUSEUM, GARDEN AND ARCHIVE IN THE OLD MILITARY HOSPITAL In search if identity.
An important part of our identity stems from knowing where we come from and all the stories connected.
To tell the story throughout architecture, this project is build on an architetural philosophy, where all the di erent periods in the history of the Virging Islands is represented in the architecture and space is outlined for bulidings of the future.
A strategy of preserving, tranforming and building is proposed, so that the buildings and grounds can adjust to present and future needs.
The project proposes following new functions for the old school, who all helps to tell the story of the islands and gather the inhabitants:
A completly new building inspired of the pre-colonial and colonial architecture of the Island, which contain an archive to preserve the Islands old archives under legitimate conditions.
An investigation library, to help the inhaitant nding back to their roots it located in the old school library.
Temporary and permanent exhibition spac,e community-facilities, café and workshoparea is all located in old Militray Hospital buildings.
e old schoolyard is transformed into a public garden space.
A public space for the present and the future inhabitants of the Virgin Islands, to tell all the stories for them and the rest of the world.
